In the six months since Katie Sands Bochner first shared her Dream Baby Registry with us, she and Brian Bochner have welcomed a beautiful baby boy into their world—Benjamin “Benny” Leo Bochner. Benny made his debut weeks early, showing his parents who will running the show from here on out. And to accommodate their little one, Katie and Brian quickly moved into a temporary Manhattan apartment—their home until they move into their own place next year. However, Katie has completed Benny’s nursery and is sharing the exclusive first look with us.
“We actually pulled his temporary nursery together in less than 48 hours since he arrived five weeks early,” Katie admits. “I used my favorite pieces from my Dream Registry, and it all came together beautifully. I hope this shows that you can create something special quickly without stressing over perfection!” Aesthetically, Benny’s space blends vintage-inspired classic touches with a bit of jungle whimsy.
On the subject of Benny’s early arrival, Katie gives advice to other parents-to-be who might be wondering what they should do in that situation: “It’s definitely a physical and mental shock, but trust that everything will come together. Thankfully, resources like Amazon and DoorDash can quickly get you stocked with essentials like bottles, pump parts, swaddles, and crib sheets. Take the time you need for yourself, follow your pediatrician’s guidance, and do your best to tune out outside noise—even though I know that’s easier said than done.”
As Benny is three-months-old now, Katie went back and added the Nanit and Frida humidifier to her Dream Baby Registry. “I was initially focused on nursery aesthetics, but now that Benny’s here, his health and safety are my top priorities—everything else feels like a bonus,” the new mom says.
For the next nursery in their future apartment, Katie has more time to curate the idyllic space. She shares, “I’m working with millworkers on custom blue scalloped bookshelves and planning an eclectic blue theme to keep it fun and playful—stay tuned!”
