A French Girl Chic Bridal Makeup Look from Oscar de la Renta and Guerlain

By Shayna Seid

This New York Bridal Fashion Week, we were given the opportunity to view Oscar de la Renta’s Fall 2020 Bridal collection, and as equally exciting, we were given a step-by-step makeup tutorial by Guerlain (ODLR’s beauty partner) for the perfect chic French bridal makeup look used in the presentation. Below, we break down the instructions from Guerlain makeup artist, Orlando Santiago.

  1. For a perfect complexion, prep the skin with Guerlain’s best-selling Abeille Royale Youth Watery Oil. Orlando advises to massage it evenly onto your face.
  2. Achieve a natural and even tone with the L’Essentiel Natural 16-Hour Wear Foundation SPF 20. It’s made with 97% natural origin ingredients, with a duo of tara and red algae extract defending against pollution. Press onto the face with L’Essentiel Retractable Foundation Brush.
  3. Go in with the Precious Light Illuminator & Concealer Pen under the eyes to brighten and as a primer over the eyelids.
  4. To make your skin appear matte and bright at the same time, use the Météorites Illuminating Compact Powder all over.
  5. Once your complexion is done, start on the brows, which set the tone for the rest of the look. Start at the front of the brows with The Eyebrow Pencil and fill in sparse areas, following your natural hair pattern, to make them relatively full; but the important part is to find your shape. As Orlando says, “Full brows are here to stay.”
  6. Go over the top of your brow bone with the Precious Light Illuminator & Concealer Pen.
  7. Using 5 Couleurs Eye Palette (Orlando used shade “03 Coque D’Or”), start with a wash of color as a base for your eyeshadow—basically, choose one color to go all over your lid. Then, add a deeper color toward the outer corner. Use a smaller brush for any under eye detail, and then finish off with the Precious Light Illuminator & Concealer Pen under the eye again.
  8. For mascara, use Maxi Lash So Volume Mascara and hold at the base of the lashes for a brief moment to set before sweeping through.
  9. Set what you have so far with the Parure Gold Radiant Setting Spray.
  10. Bronze the highest points of the face in a 33 motion on each side, using the Terracotta Light Powder with a brush.
  11. For blush, use the Terracotta Highlighter Stick in “Universal Blush” on the apples of the cheeks.
  12. Finish with Rouge G Lipstick in #04. and apply #01 on top.
