Ashley McCormick, founder of one of our favorite jewelry lines ASHA by Ashley McCormick, met her fiancé Naveen Nirgudkar at a summer dinner party, hosted by one of childhood best friends. “There was instant chemistry!” she exclaims.
Naveen actually recently proposed during a trip to St. Barths, after they dined at her favorite spot, Bonito. (Ashley also put together a mini-moon guide for the island!) And they’re currently planning a September backyard wedding at their new home in Greenwich, Connecticut. The day will also have an Indo-Cuban theme as a nod to their multicultural backgrounds.
With the engaged couple about to move into their newly-purchased home, now is the perfect time for Ashley to share her Dream Registry—she’s also making her actual wedding registry on Over The Moon. The designer describes her aesthetic as classic and modern—just like her jewelry. “Naveen and I want to create a beautiful and happy home for our family,” she shares. “The house is by the water and is a grey shingle Nantucket-style home with both sleek and traditional elements. We love to travel and have a penchant for adventure, so we want to fill our new space with memories of some of our favorite places like St. Barths and Marrakech.”
Ashley quotes her mother’s love of interiors as a big influence for where she finds inspiration. Her mother admires design houses like Brunschwig et Fils, Cowtan & Tout, Pierre Frey, Bennison, and John Roselli. Ashley also looks to Victoria Hagan, Amanda Lindroth, Quadrille, and Kara Miller for inspiration.
When it comes to decorating their home with both of their styles in mind, Ashley has embraced his sleeker look. “Naveen has a very sharp design eye, which he cultivated after living in London for 10 years,” she explains. And he has embraced her love of patterns and prints. “The house is still coming together, and we couldn’t be more excited!”
Since Ashley can’t wait to entertain in their new space, tabletop items were at the top of her list for her Dream Registry must-haves. And she’s obsessed with the Themis Z serving dishes and Pomelo Casa hand-painted plates—perfect for setting an outdoor table. Ashley also adores the custom Backgammon board and Nantucket playing cards because she can envision fun game nights with their three young children.
As for her advice for couples putting together their own registries, Ashley makes a point to think about a design scheme and build in pieces that accent and complement…and to have fun, of course!
