The Best Celebrity Engagement Rings on Instagram

By Alexandra Macon

In the past, engagements were listed in the newspaper, or perhaps an elegant announcement was sent out via snail mail. But today, almost as soon as someone has said “I do,” they’re sharing a photo of their ring on Instagram and coming up with cute hashtags. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that!) Even celebrities are in on the trend, as more and more of them are choosing to blast out their big news to their followers via a cute pic. What can we say other than #celebritiestheyrejustlikeus? Of course, the difference between a celeb engagement announcement and regular person’s often comes down to ring size—theirs are never short of massive! Below, we rounded up some of the celebrity engagement rings we love ogling on Instagram. Warning: some of these sparklers might cause temporary blindness!

Emma Stone

Late on December 4th, Emma Stone’s new fiancé, Saturday Night Live writer and director Dave McCary, posted on his Instagram confirming that he had indeed asked the actress to marry him. The two have been dating since 2017, and it’s suspected that they met when she hosted SNL in December of 2016. This year, they made a rare public appearance at the 2019 SAG Awards. The ring is a little blurry in the photo, so people were speculating on the antique-ness and the stone itself, which looks like a pearl. We can now confidently confirm that it is in fact an Akoya untreated 8mm pearl in the center of the Snowflake Ring-Supreme by Tokyo-based jeweler kataoka.

Sophie Turner

The GoT actress and middle JoBro posted matching engagement announcing-Instagram posts on October 15, 2017. Hers read, “I said yes,” and his said, “She said yes.” Experts can agree that the seemingly pear-cut stone is more than 2-carats and estimated to be worth $150,000 at most. The British-American couple tied the knot in Las Vegas and Provence this year.

Katy Perry

After hitting it off at a 2016 Golden Globes after-party, the pop star and actor Orlando Bloom dated on and off for a few years. Bloom reportedly proposed on Valentine’s Day, in a very movie-star way, by whisking Perry off in a helicopter around New York City and presenting her with a ring while up in the air. The flower-shaped 4-carat engagement ring features a pink ruby surrounded by eight smaller diamonds, and according to People magazine, could cost up to $5 million!

Jennifer Lawrence

While Lawrence is notoriously not on social media, that didn’t stop her ring from making the rounds on Instagram during Paris Fashion Week, where her new diamond ring was photographed front row at the Christian Dior show. The actress got engaged to gallerist Cooke Maroney in New York, after dating for a little less than a year, and the two were married this October.

Meghan Markle

What was the best engagement ring of 2017? The stunning bauble given to Meghan Markle, now known as the Duchess of Sussex, by Prince Harry. Unlike the ring Prince William gave Kate Middleton, which had once belonged to the princes’ mother, Princess Diana, this piece of jewelry was a new creation. “The ring is obviously yellow gold because that’s [Meghan’s] favorite,” Prince Harry himself explained in the couple’s engagement interview. “[T]he main stone itself I sourced from Botswana and the little diamonds on either side are from my mother’s jewelry collection, to make sure that she’s with us on this crazy journey together,” he went on to elaborate. And lest you forget, Prince Harry’s proposal was the event that launched one thousand roast chickens. As the couple explained in that same sit-down interview, the prince popped the question during a cozy night of staying in and cooking.

Ariana Grande

Real estate broker Dalton Gomez asked pop star Ariana Grande to marry him with a one-of-a-kind engagement ring. Over the pandemic, Gomez coordinated with jeweler Jack Solow over Zoom to design the pearl and diamond piece. Solow describes the process of working with Gomez, adding, “It was his idea to do the diamond on an angle, and he said to me we had to incorporate a pearl into the finished piece because it is very sentimentally special. The element of a pearl is very, very sentimentally special to Ariana.” Fans wonder if the pearl is the same family heirloom she wrote about in a Tweet. In 2014, her grandmother repurposed Grande’s grandfather’s pearl tie pin into a ring for Grande.

Hailey Baldwin

Hailey Baldwin proves that it’s important to manifest the diamond of your dreams. In 2012, she retweeted a post about idolizing Blake Lively’s engagement ring. Sure enough, Justin Bieber popped the question with a sparkler that bore a startling resemblance to Lively’s pink oval diamond. And yet, Baldwin’s ring is still uniquely hers: a clear oval diamond on a delicate yellow gold band. The Solow & Co. accessory cost approximately $500,000. And in 2019, the “Boyfriend” singer ultimately became Baldwin’s husband after their wedding ceremony in South Carolina.

Jennifer Lopez

Six rings have graced the fourth finger on JLo’s left hand, but her newest from Ben Affleck might be the most interesting one yet. He proposed first in 2022 with a $2.5 million pink diamond from Harry Winston. This was the rock that catapulted a colored diamond engagement ring craze in the early aughts. Affleck proposed again in 2022 with an 8.5-carat green diamond, flanked by two white diamonds. It is reported to cost anywhere between $5 to $10 million. Go ahead, be green with envy, but wait—according to Leibish, green diamonds are naturally occurring and attain that rich hue from exposure to atomic radiation. The more you know!

Paris Hilton

Carter Reum proposed to Paris Hilton on her 40th birthday with a custom emerald-cut diamond designed by Jean Dousset. Continuing a glittering family legacy, Dousset is the great-great-grandson of jeweler Louis Cartier. On a private island, Reum asked for Paris’s hand with three elongated cut diamonds. She was already dressed like a bride-to-be in a white Retrofete dress and a Loschy crown.

Megan Fox

Machine Gun Kelly may be a punk star, but his appreciation for fine jewelry is practically poetic. He collaborated with British jeweler Stephen Webster on arguably one of the most original celebrity engagement rings. The bespoke teardrop-shaped diamond and emerald engagement ring features his April birthstone on one band and Megan Fox’s May birthstone on the other. Technically two rings in one, each piece is interconnected by a hidden magnet. When placed together, the rings unite in a perfect embrace that forms a lopsided heart. The bands also contain spiked thorns. “So if she tries to take it off, it hurts,” Machine Gun Kelly states, explaining his reasoning. “Love is pain!”

Kourtney Kardashian

Longtime friends Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker became romantically linked during the pandemic, and for their one-year anniversary, Barker proposed. He worked with Lorraine Schwartz on a custom oval-cut diamond ring with a pavé band that is worth over $1 million. While Kardashian attributes the jewelry as being the most beautiful thing she has ever owned, she cites breaking it as one of the worst things she’s ever done. That’s right—a few days after the engagement, she took the ring off her finger to fold sweatshirts and then accidentally stepped on it. She told her mom that she cried for hours, but Barker handled the debacle much better and sent it back to Schwartz for repair.

Nicola Peltz

David and Victoria Beckham’s son Brooklyn proposed to heiress Nicola Peltz and announced their happy news on a shared Instagram post in 2020. Beckham’s younger sister Harper snapped the priceless shot of the couple and Pelt’z sparkler. The ring is a large emerald-cut yellow diamond with a thin band studded with pave diamonds. It bears semblance to one of Victoria Beckham’s 15 engagement rings. Eagle-eyed viewers noted that the emerald cut in the original post does not match the whopping oval-cut ring Nicola wears in a later post. Perhaps Peltz is following her mother-in-law’s tradition of keeping an engagement ring collection. The wedding proved to be a dazzling event, with the mother of the groom bejeweled in incredible diamonds herself.

Britney Spears

After meeting on the set for her music video “Slumber Party” in 2016, pop sensation Britney Spears and personal trainer Sam Asghari fell in love. In 2021, he proposed with a solitaire 4-carat round-cut diamond placed in a platinum cathedral setting on a plain silver band. Asghari often refers to Spears as his “lioness” in Instagram posts, so the band features an engraving of the term of endearment. The custom ring was a collaboration between Asghari and Forever Diamonds NY’s jeweler Roman Malayev.

Model Jourdan Dunne shared a post announcing her engagement to rapper and streetwear owner Dion “Sincere” Hamilton. In the photo, she covers her eyes as she grins and shows off her left hand–likely because the gem is so blindingly dazzling! Hamilton proposed with an oval-cut diamond that is surrounded by a floral diamond halo atop a thin pavé band.

Lindsay Lohan

Financier Bader Shammas popped the question to actress Lindsay Lohan with a cushion-cut diamond placed on a delicate pavé band. While Lohan has been private about her relationship, she couldn’t help but share the news of her new Harry Winston sparkler. The couple married in an intimate ceremony in the summer of 2022.
