The Best—and Worst—Wedding Dates for 2018

If you happen to be in your late twenties or early thirties, you’ve likely already survived more than a few “wedding seasons” in your lifetime. It usually kicks off right before Memorial Day, when flowers are in bloom and the romance of spring provides the perfect backdrop for photos. Then things are full speed ahead during the summer months, when destination weddings have guests flying all over the country (and sometimes the world) for beachside ceremonies and rustic parties in converted barns.

In the past, the whirlwind would typically quiet down by Labor Day, but these days, it seems like more and more couples are choosing to get married in the fall. According to wedding registry website Zola, 2018 will be the first year in which the majority of weddings will take place in the autumn. Out of the top 10 wedding dates registered on their site, none of them are scheduled to happen before August. And the most common wedding date of the year is October 20, 2018, so future brides, if you’ve chosen that day be warned: some of your guests might be double booked à la Bride Wars (a.k.a. one of our favorite wedding movies of all time). Remember when Kate Hudson’s Liv and Anne Hathaway’s Emma practically lose their minds—and their friendship—after they both book the Plaza Hotel for same date in June? Lest that rom-com be a lesson and don’t let the same thing happen to you!

For those about to put down a deposit on a venue, we suggest first taking a look at Zola’s most popular wedding dates for 2018. After all, this is the one date you can’t change at the last minute!
