Has there ever been more speculation surrounding something as traditional as walking a bride down the aisle than when talking about Meghan Markle’s upcoming wedding? In January, it was rumored Meghan wanted her mother, Doria Ragland, to escort her because she had grown apart from her estranged dad, Thomas Markle. The rumor even led many to believe that Meghan’s dad wasn’t even invited to his daughter’s ceremony at St. George’s Chapel, on the grounds of Windsor Castle. As this is arguably the biggest wedding of the year, his absence surely would have made worldwide news. Then, some outlets reported Prince William would be doing the honors. When we heard this, we thought good grief girl, just go it alone!

But it turns out, we were all getting way ahead of ourselves! According to The Sun, Thomas Markle is indeed invited to the wedding, even though he might be afraid of being at the center of so much attention. “He’s not exactly thrilled at facing the world’s glare,” said a family friend. “He lives a reclusive life in Mexico.”(Please note her half-brother and half-sister will not be in attendance, although the latter will be in the vicinity as the guest of a television station.) That being said, the Markle friend did clarify one thing: “Nothing will stop him from having Meghan on his arm for the big day.”
