What makes the perfect registry? Our Dream Registry series answers just that, providing an endless source of inspiration for those putting together their own Over The Moon registries. We enlisted the help of some of our most stylish and in-the-know friends—whether they’re single, engaged, or already married. (Because we’re taking a page from Carrie Bradshaw’s playbook and saying one should be able to register for Manolos no matter what their relationship status!) Peek inside the registries of tastemakers, from editors and stylists to wedding planners and beyond. Your dream registry is just a click away.
We first featured Highsnobiety SVP and General Manager Haein Dorin’s intimate elopement in Tribeca in 2020, and this month, her larger, fairytale wedding on Lake Como was published on Vogue.com. Three years after first saying, “I do,” Haein and Giovanni Dorin, a sports and music lead at TikTok, are looking back at their wedding registry and curating an updated one, just for us.
While the Over The Moon Registry wasn’t around when Haein first exchanged vows, she enjoyed creating her real wedding registry, because it not only gave them an opportunity to rethink selecting items for their current life and home in Tribeca but also provided a glimpse into what their future life would be. “I actually got a lot of my inspiration from the Over The Moon!” Haein exclaims. “I love the variety of established and new brands, all with quality being the common thread.”
Haein shares that she’s unsure if she and Giovanni have a distinct personal aesthetic, but says they “like to live by a ‘la bella figura’ mindset,” when it comes to curating their home. “We love a healthy blending [of] traditional and modern styles together, new and vintage quality pieces,” Haein goes on to say. “We take a lot of inspiration through our travels by exploring color palettes and mixing textures. We naturally are most often in Korea or Italy to see family, so you can find pieces from these places throughout our home.”
“Luckily I applaud my husband for being an amazing foil to my protagonist,” Haein says in response to the question of how she and her husband merge their styles, if at all. “He is the perfect last judgement during my most indecisive of times, and in other times, he has no opinion at all! After we mutually decided to part ways with his cubism art that depicted stadiums of his favorite teams and my French Baroque, mirrored furniture, we were able to land on our collective style.” Currently, the two are enjoying modern hanok and organic, mid-century modern styles with pops of eclectic pieces.
For her Dream Registry, Haein professes that she had to add as much Jean Dubost Laguiole flatware as possible and complementary Laboratorio Paravicini dinnerware. And surprisingly, her biggest regret from her real wedding registry was not adding a quality backgammon board. “It would be so fun to pull it out in the future with our family with memories from the wedding,” she confesses.
Haein leaves us with key advice for couples creating their Over The Moon Registries: “I would love more couples to have fun with it, and allow yourself to discover your style as a couple while registering. It is a beautiful moment in your relationship as you take this next step into marriage!”
