For Alex Balogh and Sebastian Levy, it started with a wedding. “Sebastian saw a photo of me during a mutual friend’s bachelorette trip, asked her for my number, and then flew to Miami early for our friend’s wedding to take me to dinner,” Alex remembers. The grand gesture worked. “We’ve been inseparable ever since. By the next weekend, we were in Aspen together visiting my family.”

Aspen would come to be a large part of the couple’s love story, and—after a romantic proposal in a secluded cenote at the Rosewood Mayakoba—it’s where they would host their wedding. “I’ve dreamed of getting married at Dunbar since I was a little girl; I used to walk my dogs nearby and always thought the area was absolutely breathtaking,” Alex says. “I showed it to Sebastian long before he even proposed, and he was immediately on board—we never even looked at another venue.”

Their wedding weekend would be a series of events on and around the property, and Alex took great joy in curating each of the festivities with Elizabeth Slossberg of EKS Events and her team. “I wanted the overall vibe of the weekend to feel both inimitable and classic, embodying a sense of tradition and modern individuality,” she says. “I’ve always had unique, unconventional taste, and I wanted that to be reflected in the decor while ensuring that the overall design remained elevated and timeless.” Over The Moon Top Photographer Corbin Gurkin lensed every elevated and candid moment.

“I had so much fun putting my weekend looks together,” the bride says of her wedding wardrobe. “Although all of my looks were quite distinctive from each other, each one was chosen with the goal of combining classic bridal sophistication with contemporary styling.” On Thursday, she wore a Danielle Frankel top as a dress; on Friday, she stuck with the same designer, wearing a Frankel top with custom Undone by Kate suede shorts, Miron Crosby boots, and a hat from Aspen staple Kemo Sabe. “I wanted my Western party look to reflect the old American West with a modern twist.” Jess Robson and Malle Gambuti of GR Hair + Makeup were on board all weekend. “We decided to braid small pieces of turquoise into the bohemian tousled waves of my hair. You could only see them when you were up close, but they were one of Sebastian’s favorite details.”

The wedding day was a fashion event in and of itself, with the bride donning four total looks throughout the day and evening. “When it came to picking my wedding dress, I wanted to find something that was edgy and unique to represent my personal style, as well as traditional to represent Sebastian’s,” Alex says. “The Sabine dress by Vera Wang beautifully captured that unique blend of traditional bridal elegance and contemporary edge.” She paired it with a Vera Wang statement piece: a cathedral-length veil embroidered with “forever” in bold gothic font. Aspen Stichworks owner Sheila was Alex’s seamstress, and was there on the day of as her bridal dresser.

For the ceremony, Sebastian matched her vibe in a Tom Ford tuxedo with vintage diamond and black onyx studs and cufflinks. “My late grandfather was a jewelry designer and passed these cufflinks down to my father as a wedding gift when he and my mom got married 32 years ago,” Alex says. “My dad gifted the stud set to Sebastian when they went to get their tuxes fitted together.”

The bride chose three reception looks, each inspired by Old Hollywood glamour. First up—an off-the-shoulder, corseted silk-satin Vivienne Westwood dress. “I love how it looked when paired with my loose piece-y updo and statement necklace, a white and canary diamond tennis necklace from my mom’s collection,” Alex says.

Next up, she changed into a minimalistic Vera Wang dress with her and her groom’s initials embroidered on the sleeve in the same gothic font from her veil. “With all of my wedding looks, I deeply enjoyed finding ways to make traditional pieces feel uniquely mine,” she says. “This embroidery was one way of achieving that.”

Her final look was also by Vera Wang. “It featured a sheer crystal bodice with a loose tulle overlay; I loved how daring, playful, and eye-catching the whole look was,” Alex says. “The bubble pony and glitter eyeliner that we did with this dress further accentuated the party-ready vibe and, all together, it made quite the statement on the dance floor.”

The fashion played into a crescendo of mounting excitement throughout the day, which began with a serene outdoor ceremony. Birch Events crafted a lush chuppah with a trio of arches, each adorned with florals in the same hues as the fall foliage.

The couple’s dog, Jagger, preceded her down the aisle as ring bearer on September 28, 2024, and a close friend officiated. “There was not a dry eye in the crowd when we read our vows,” Alex remembers. “I felt such an overwhelming sense of joy, gratitude, and excitement.”

While the ceremony celebrated nature, the reception infused it with whimsy. “I wanted the vibe to be quirky, over-the-top, and different while also being rustic, earthy, and timeless,” Alex says. “I was inspired by the whimsical surrealism of Alice in Wonderland.” There were towering trees with banquettes at their bases, leaves hanging from the ceiling, a moss wall as the band backdrop, and a bar made to look like it was carved from one continuous piece of burlwood. Serpentine tables curved around the dance floor.

She and Sebastian entered first for a room reveal and private first dance to Chris Stapleton’s “Joy of My Life,” one of the bride’s favorite memories of the day. After guests streamed in, another reveal—the towering cake by Coppélia Cake Design. The bottom tier was a nod to her fashion, adorned with a ruffle pinwheel and gothic “forever.”

After dinner and toasts, Everyday People of West Coast Music got everyone to the dance floor. “Between our unbelievably talented band and DJ, the espresso martini bar, and our ice luge, vibes were high,” Alex says. “We kept the party going until the wee hours of the morning. Celebrating the occasion surrounded by our family and friends while we all had the time of our lives made for an unforgettable evening—and seeing all of our hard work pay off and our big ideas brought to life was pretty magical.”
