Doctors Madison Edens and Christopher Ball met in the operating room. During medical school, the two worked together on the same trauma surgery rotation at a hospital in Queens. “Our friends like to joke that for our first date, we amputated a foot!” Madison laughs.
Three-and-a-half years later Christopher proposed at the site of their first date—Central Park. “Chris popped the question in a beautiful spot in the park next to a waterfall. It was quiet and personal and just us—exactly what I had wanted,” she remembers. Once Madison said, “Yes!” he surprised her with an engagement party with all of their friends and family—“It was the best feeling in the world.”
Ever since the bride-to-be studied abroad in the idyllic country, Spain has always held a special place in Madison’s heart. “We were looking all across Spain when we came upon La Residencia in Deià, Mallorca, a gorgeous historical town nestled into the Tramuntana Mountains,” Madison explains. “We were overwhelmed by the art and culture of the intimate community and knew it was a special place we would want to come back to again and again. We were so excited to share it with our closest family and friends.”
Once the locale was decided upon, OTM-favorite celebrity planner Michelle Rago Destinations took to all of the organizing while the couple enlisted Norman & Blake to photograph. TPD Design set the tone for the weekend with a custom invitation suite.
“I had an incredible time working with my stylist Gabrielle Hurwitz to craft each look for the weekend’s events,” Madison notes. To kick off the festivities, the bride and stylist took inspiration from bright Spanish colors and prints. “Gabrielle found an unbelievable gown by Naeem Khan which was so dynamic with a lot of movement. We paired it with a fun red lip and Dior shoes.” Chris looked dapper in a Michael Andrews Bespoke suit, in olive green.
As for the ceremony, Madison was especially drawn to the tradition of it all. She worked with Reem Acra to create a custom off-the-shoulder dress complete with pearl-embellished lace. She accessorized with custom Verstolo diamond pearl drop earrings—a timeless heirloom piece. The groom donned yet another Michael Andrews Bespoke look—a classic black tuxedo and Christian Louboutin patent leather shoes.
“As all my friends would tell you—I love a cape!” Madison shares. For the reception, the bride went with a backless gown by Cuculelli Shaheen with beading detail at the bottom and a custom matching cape. “The cape was the life of the dance floor and my most fun accessory!”
Madison and Chris’s sisters complemented her beautifully in vintage John Galliano and a sage green Michelle Mason halter look. As for bridal beauty, Victor Henao applied Madison’s radiant makeup look as Brian Buenaventura styled relaxed waves.
On May 19, 2023, Madison and Chris wed before friends and family surrounded by Siloh Floral Artistry’s flowing arrangements. “As soon as I saw Chris, all my nerves disappeared. I felt confident that I was making the best decision of my life,” the bride shares. “It felt like a dream; we were in the most beautiful place we had ever seen, surrounded by our loved ones.” The couple exchanged handwritten vows in an olive grove overlooking the sea. Once announced officially wed, the newlyweds shared a moment—and a few sweet photos—alone before rejoining guests for the reception.
Everyone delighted in yellowtail tartare, Spanish red prawns, and suckling pig confit amidst pastel tablescapes at El Olivo. “The atmosphere felt like a large, festive dinner party—it was perfect,” she recalls. The newlyweds then shared their first dance to Eric Clapton’s “Wonderful Tonight.”
Afterward, ALR Music had everyone on their feet, celebrating Madison and Chris. Revelers spent the night under the stars dancing to the sounds of a saxophone. “After all of the excitement from dinner and dancing was over, we went and sat by the pool and watched the moon rise over the town of Deià,” Madison smiles. “We will remember that moment for the rest of our lives.”
