Proud Limpongpan, chief strategy officer at digital assets exchange Zipmex and co-founder of sustainable jewelry manufacturing company Ennovie, and Jon Biagiotti were sat next to each other on their first day at Harvard Business School. Over the first year, their friendship turned into more, and after nearly four years together, he proposed on Valentine’s Day after seeing Romeo and Juliet at Lincoln Center.
Two years before he asked her to marry him, Jon sent Proud Oheka Castle‘s website. “He knew I always wanted a wedding in Europe, but also knew that his very large family wouldn’t be able to make it, so he found a place that was close to his home and had that old nostalgic charm for me,” Proud explains. The two had a wedding in Thailand before this one that was blessed by the Princess of Thailand, so they were looking to do something different. To help plan and design everything, they hired LLG Events and East Made Co.
After trying on roughly 70 dresses in New York and London, Proud and her mother found a strapless Monique Lhuillier gown that they both loved. To complete her look, the bride wore a Vatit Itthi veil and a diamond earring and necklace set borrowed from her mother.
For her beauty look, the editor-in-chief of Vogue Thailand recommended Proud use Makky P. and Andrew Chen. “They were both my guardian angels,” she says. “They stayed with me from 9:00 a.m. until the reception started at 6:00 p.m., just to make sure I looked my very best.”
Originally, they were going to have their ceremony outside, but due to rain, it was moved into the ballroom. The wedding had been blessed by Pope Francis, and the couple recited their vows in front of their 100 guests. After sharing a first kiss as husband and wife, everyone made their way to the cocktail hour, followed by a three-course dinner.
During the meal, heartfelt speeches were given. “My dad apparently made a lot of people in the audience tear up a little, especially all my ‘new-dad’ friends that just had baby girls,” Proud says. For dessert, an impressive Venetian-style dessert cafe took up another entire room.
An eight-piece live band played throughout dinner, and the newlyweds had their first dance to Tchaikovsky’s “Sleeping Beauty”—“It’s my favorite Disney cartoon, and our first movie date was Maleficent,” Proud says. After cutting the cake, the after-party commenced in the library, followed by champagne and McDonald’s in the bridal suite—the perfect ending!
