Carolina Herrera Bridal Spring 2022

By Maria Ward

The best bridal looks will stand the test of time, and few designers understand this quite like Wes Gordon. As Creative Director of Carolina Herrera, Gordon weaves classic elegance with a modern twist into every collection, always with a youthful joie de vivre that has become his signature. The Bridal Spring 2022 season is similarly cause for celebration, as this season, Gordon was inspired by the heartwarming feeling of reuniting with others—something any bride-to-be can relate to who postponed their wedding due to the pandemic.

Like many couples, Gordon is responding by going grand. In a tightly edited lineup of 7 dresses, the designer incorporated the most luxurious fabrics with exquisite embroideries and couture detailing. The collection delivered plenty of wow-factor, from pearl and glass beading to rose and paisley lace, plus a few oversize bows for good measure. For the frill-seeking bride, there was a strapless ballgown in Italian tulle with floral embroidery throughout. Just as statement-making was an off-the-shoulder stunner with an exaggerated train sculpted from silk gazar. Even the more minimalist looks here were striking in their simplicity; see the sweetheart dress in stretch crepe that crescendoed into a trumpet skirt.
