For our list of international venues we loved, we’re turning the spotlight on the locations from some of the most picturesque weddings that we’ve featured abroad. From a Tuscan ceremony to a Moroccan celebration, take a look at some of our favorites below!
ANGUILA
At this newly acquired Four Seasons resort, you can tie the knot with a gorgeous sunset peaking over the water. Lindsay Levine and Adam Savaglio got married in Anguilla because it was one of their favorite places. “We’ve visited the island many times throughout our relationship, and we couldn’t wait to invite family and friends down for a long weekend of celebrating at the Viceroy Anguilla,” says Levine. ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA
This private, members-only vacation club is set on 1,500 acres of waterfront, white sand beach. Marina Chiasson and Oliver Sharpe took over the property and accommodated all their family and friends at the club. “We wanted it to feel like adult summer camp,” says Chiasson. COLOMBIA
This traditional club was transformed for the wedding of Alejandro Velez and Natalia Zapata. “We used tiny lights, branches, and green to create a romantic outdoorsy feeling,” Zapata says. “We also added blue accents, like linens and vases on differently decorated tables, to preserve the beachy vibe.” Click here to browse their wedding.
ECUADOR
In this club’s Grand Salon, 280 of your guests can come and celebrate your new journey as a newlywed! Michelle Bahamonde Santeli and Andrés Turégano Eling knew there was only one place to have their reception and it was at The Union Club of Quito. “I called the aesthetic ‘al fresco al dentro’ [meaning ‘al fresco indoors’] since I always wanted an outdoor wedding, but Quito is too cold at night,” says Santeli. FRANCE
At this chateau, less than 30 minutes from Monaco, you can rent 12 rooms and one caravan for up to 150 guests. Romina and Thomas Bocahut wanted a wedding close to Thomas’s summer family home near Nice. “We were both very picky, and Thomas being an architect, wanted a space that would create the perfect atmosphere for hosting a warm and welcoming reception,” says Romina. With rooms enough for 75 people and spaces big enough for 300 sitting guests, this château and hotel is perfect for a French wedding. Marlie and Kevin had a destination wedding in the Loire Valley. “The ‘Venetian alley’ at the Chateau de la Bourdaisiere, decorated by our talented and lovely florist Delphine of Niveole provided the perfect backdrop,” says Marlie. The Musée Rodin or Hôtel Biron is a Parisian staple, which welcomes 700,000 guests each year and contains August Rodin’s famous sculpture “The Thinker.” Katherine Neifeld and Robert Neukomm emailed the museum the morning after their engagement to check on its availability for their wedding. “Robert and I visited the Rodin museum on our first trip to Paris. GREECE
Royal Myconian Resort & Thalasso Spa Center
On Mykonos, you can have your wedding ceremony in a whitewashed church, followed by a reception on the beach or in a restaurant overlooking the rest of the town—can you imagine the views? Jordan Bagel and Ryan Feldman cite Mamma Mia as inspiration for their venue. “We always wanted our wedding to feel fresh and natural, subtle and effortless, using only the colors found on the island from the sea, sand, olive trees, and bougainvillea,” says Bagel. INDONESIA
This venue, overlooking the Indian Ocean, has variety for your big day. You can wed in their Infinity Chapel, on the lawn, in a ballroom, in a garden, or on a beachfront space—the choice is yours! Shirelle Noble and Brian Poindexter chose Bali because Noble’s parents had been living in Indonesia for 20 years. “We wanted the aesthetic to be fusion of all the cultures and places that had shaped our lives. Both Brian and I grew up overseas as young children—our families are from different parts of the world, and we wanted our marriage and wedding venue to bring everyone together for the celebration,” she says. ITALY
Want to get married in a centuries-old garden on a property dating back to the Renaissance? Look no further than the Four Seasons in Florence. Tania and Sam Isacoff knew they wanted to get married in Italy or France. “We wanted the aesthetic of the ceremony to be romantic and for our reception to feel like a really chic dinner party. Ultimately, we fell in love with the garden at the Four Seasons Hotel in Florence and knew that it would be the perfect venue for our wedding,” says Tania. Click here to browse their wedding.
The Gargonza Castle is beautiful for an Italian summer wedding. Marina Polo and Pawel Szajda originally wanted to avoid a Tuscan wedding because Szajda had been in the movie Under the Tuscan Sun. “Gargonza has a beautiful, chic simplicity that we loved—it felt as though we were staying at our imaginary Italian family’s country house,” says Polo. With glorious gardens and classic Italian rooms, this hotel in Ravello is a great place to get married. Andrea Coen and Dr. Michael Neidert instantly fell in love with the venue. “There’s a faded elegance to it, and the property is covered in lemon trees. This property of the American Academy in Rome since 1909 reopened in 2002 and continues to host cultural affairs on its beautiful grounds. Andrea Gray and Stefano Matussi were put on to this villa by Matussi’s mother. “With its Baroque style, I knew that it would be absolutely gorgeous and would make my job of designing a lovely and impactful wedding a lot easier,” says Gray. Originally built as a fortress to defend a strategic area, the castle has ancient charm, dating back to 1254, and hosted Europe’s noblest families. In 1993, the Ferragamo family purchased Il Borro and Salvatore remains the president of the estate. Built in 1400 and only five kilometers from Florence, this villa was also the setting for a few scenes in the film A Room with a View. Melissa Wasser and Lee Miller always wanted a Tuscan-style wedding and loved the idea of a destination wedding. “In Florence, we could be in our favorite place with our favorite people. With a marble façade, this venue is one of the most important early renaissance buildings. Leslie Ramos and Thomas Forwood chose Venice and were determined to make it work, despite the amount of tourists. They wisely settled on the Palazzo Contarini Polignac. “We had seen it a hundred times—the beautiful facade, the balcony overlooking the adjacent garden. The fact that Monet had painted its facade three times during his stay in the city in 1908 added that extra art historical spark we love,” says Ramos. Click here to browse their wedding.
This villa was dedicated to producing wines in the first half of the 18th century (that has to be a good sign!) and is located 15 minutes outside fair Verona. Laura Day Webb and Stefano Gamba wanted to get married in Gamba’s home country and found a perfect location near the town made famous by Romeo and Juliet. “Its stunning grounds, frescoed dining room, and famed winery made for a romantic and fitting backdrop for a multi-day celebration,” says Webb. MEXICO
At this resort, it is recommended to book the entire place out for three nights for up to 64 guests. You’ll receive free daily yoga, use of surfboards, bikes, and a breakfast buffet. Hannah Shapiro and Benjamin James had vacationed at Rancho Pescadero five times before their engagement, so it was very familiar to them by the time they booked it for their wedding. This Playa del Carmen resort has 1,600 acres prepared to be your magical wedding’s backdrop. Lindsay Silberman and Matt Stevens met during spring break in Mexico, so they wanted to bring it back to where it all began for their wedding. “Our wedding weekend took place in Playa del Carmen at a gorgeous property called Rosewood Mayakoba. Since I cover luxury travel for a living, I was extremely picky—we looked at 10 properties in the area, but knew almost immediately that the venue and level of service at Rosewood was exactly what we were looking for. Mark Nelson and Luis Perez León were looking for a New Year’s vacation, and when they found Villa Mandarinas, they booked it for their wedding too. “We booked the entire Villa for four days so all of our family and friends could stay there,” Nelson explains. Katie Hagerty and John Falkenberg booked three venues, including Casa Cece, for their big day. “The colorful sun-bleached buildings, cobble stone streets, and gorgeous colonial homes made for the perfect romantic backdrop and 100% drove the aesthetic of the wedding,” explains Hagerty. The Belmond Casa de Sierra Nevada
For Katie Hagerty and John Falkenberg’s reception, they booked The Belmond—a hotel made up of 17th and 18th century-old buildings. “I loved all of the stone archways and natural floral vines. We added twinkling stars above the dance floor and candles hung from trees,” says Hagerty.
At Tulum’s boutique hotel Casa Violeta, you can get married on the beach or in a jungle garden. Naseem Cox and Daniel Scaglione wanted everyone at the wedding to treat it like a tropical vacation, and they chose Tulum and Casa Violeta on a whim without ever having been before. For Naseem Cox and Daniel Scaglione’s wedding reception, they moved the party to the restaurant Gitano, which has a disco, tropical vibe. Gitano Group also has two outposts in Manhattan.
MOROCCO
No better place to get married in Morocco than perhaps at Selman Marrakech. Bouchra Ezzahraoui and Omar Darwazah chose this five-star hotel because Ezzahroui knew she wanted to get married in her home country, and a little help from two major actors also aided their decision. “Fun fact: Leonardo DiCaprio was there celebrating Orlando Bloom’s birthday when we were having dinner at Selman’s restaurant. His girlfriend started playing guitar, and we all sang ‘All of Me’ by John Legend together. When that happened we thought it was a sign!” she recounts. Click here to browse their wedding.
NETHERLANDS
Het Scheepvaartmuseum in Amsterdam celebrates maritime culture and society and is also a great place to get married. Marlotte van den Bergh and Patrick Coleman chose this space because of its beautiful glass roof. Click here to browse their wedding.
In Breda, this hotel gives you a religious, historical setting. It is an expansive complex of various national monuments on of the city’s oldest streets. Chris Derksen and Anouk Verbakel are both from the Netherlands, and they chose to wed in Verbakel’s hometown. In their culture it is custom to have a late morning ceremony, afternoon cocktail reception, and a big party, so they needed three venues and chose Hotel Nassau as their third. “It’s an old monastery and now a high-end hotel, which has been restored to its former glory. It has beautiful rooms, a gorgeous restaurant, a hip bar, and the amazing old chapel that can be used for parties,” says Verbakel. Click here to browse their wedding.
PORTUGAL
This Portuguese garden in Lisbon dates back to the 18th century and presents itself as the first botanic garden in the country. Natalia Swarz and Armando Mesías decided that Lisbon should be where they get married. “We went to Lisbon two months after the engagement to check out venues, from rooftops with the most beautiful views, to castles, but we ended up finding the gorgeous Ajuda Botanical Garden,” says Swarz. SWEDEN
This Dutch Renaissance castle is one of the most well-preserved Baroque palaces and dates back to the 15th century. Zuzanna and Robert Campbell wanted to get married in her hometown of Västerås, and she already knew the exact venue she wanted. “It really spoke to me with its amazing courtyard, and I felt like the layout was just perfect for a wedding celebration,” she says. THE BAHAMAS
In Nassau, this private, members club has 1,000 acres of white sand beach. Victoria “Vicky” Pool and Owen Holm were engaged at Lyford Cay Club and have shared a lot of firsts there, so it was a clear choice for them to wed there as well. “It was one of our first major vacations together, the first place we said ‘I love you,’ and we both truly love the energy and activities being at Lyford Cay gives us. We knew we wanted an island wedding and went with that theme throughout the weekend. When a hurricane hit a month before the wedding, we were a little worried to say the least, but we ultimately knew our guests would fall in love with Lyford as much as we had regardless of some bare palm trees,” says Pool. UNITED KINGDOM
In the Highlands of Scotland, this castle sits where three great lochs meet and is surrounded by mountainous scenery. Although remote, the castle is prepared for weddings and has handled international nuptials before. Ashley Cawthon and Stuart Petrie wanted to get married in Petrie’s homeland. “It had an incredible history and a beautiful landscape. It felt like the castle you see in fairytales,” Cawthon says. “We actually found out later that it’s the same castle from the film Made of Honor with Patrick Demsey.” Click here to browse their wedding.

Before their reception at Petersham Nurseries, Gabriella Nassif and Sachal Majeed had their British ceremony at Mayfair hotel, The Ritz. Its Grade II listed William Kent House adjoins the hotel and is an exquisite place to tie the knot, as is the Music Room in the main building.
No. 1 Abbey Row is a private events venue hosted at The Old Bell Hotel. In the market town of Malmesbury on the edge of the Cotswolds, this venue gives you exclusive use of the North Wing to host up to 65 people, indoors and outdoors. Erin Connelly and Brooks Reitz went to The Old Bell the morning after the engagement as a retreat and decided that would make the perfect spot for their wedding. “We fell in love with it and thought, ‘What if our family and a few close friends came and we just did it here?” Click here to browse their wedding.
