The Paperless Post x Stephanie Fishwick Invitation Collection is a Heavenly Mix of Digital Art, Calligraphy, and Illustration

By Cathleen Freedman

For those looking to keep the elegance of a paper invitation suite but want to switch to the ease of a digital, eco-friendly version, Paperless Post has just upped the ante. This month they released a collaboration with Stephanie Fishwick, a calligrapher, collage artist, illustrator, and Over The Moon vendor. The invitation collection features Fishwick’s ethereal calligraphy and layered collage designs.

Ideal for remote rosé toasts and Zoom ceremonies, the hand-illustrated invites are available in more than a dozen designs. And although the collection features beautiful save the date and wedding invitation options, you can also send out cards for bachelorette parties, birthdays, bridal showers, and other small gatherings…pretty much any event! Choose between the mystical woodlands-influenced print of “Blueberry Bramble,” the flora-and-fauna of the sea in the “Oceana” pattern, and more to send to your guests. Each virtual invite features a medley of nature motifs—a welcome contrast from this digital age.

In addition to nature, Fishwick finds inspiration from 19th and 20th-century decorative arts, vanitas painting, goth music, fairy tales, and fashion. After purchasing her first calligraphy set in Paris, she trained with Masters Calligraphers, including the Chief White House Calligrapher Pat Blair. Fishwick alternates between her calligraphy nib and paintbrush from her Charlottesville, Virginia studio, surrounded by old ivy-colored cedars, oak trees, hydrangea, boxwoods, and magnolias.

Unsurprisingly, the artist’s Instagram is one of the most picturesque accounts on social media. Her grid is a brief portfolio of her whimsical and romantic work, which has been featured in Vogue and graced wedding invites like Gwenyth Paltrow’s. It’s no wonder so many couples want to send invitations penned by Fishwick.

“There’s such a demand that I’m not able to meet because it’s just me,” Fishwick says. “We get so many inquiries, and I’ve been trying to figure out a way to have my work be more accessible.” Her collaboration with Paperless Post is the ultimate solution.

Paperless Post, like most of Stephanie Fishwick’s followers, has ardently admired her artistic style for years. “Stephanie’s unique mix of organic illustration and formal, structured layout has enchanted us for years,” Paperless Post’s CEO and co-founder James Hirschfield says. “We’re thrilled to finally bring her work to Paperless Post with an emphasis on wedding invitations.”

And, with wedding plans changing frequently right now because of the pandemic, never before has tracking RSVPs and pivoting plans been more important. The efficiency and flexibility of virtual stationery is essential for every 2021 couple who needs to communicate what the plan is to their guests. The Paperless Post x Stephanie Fishwick collection proves that convenience can be incredibly beautiful too.

The classic card invitations can be sent online with virtual envelopes, stamps, and liners. Flyers allow you to add GIFs, personalized photos, stickers, and text effects for a truly customized invite. Flyers can be sent through Paperless Post or even via a link to copy into a text, WhatsApp, or Instagram DM. No address book necessary! Digital invitations have never been easier or more heartfelt.
