At New York’s Academy Mansion, Monique Lhuillier unveiled her fall 2018 bridal collection on a formation of brides, who celebrated amongst a floral-strewn banquet and multi-tiered champagne tower. Lhuillier describes her new line as “ethereal, chic, and understated,” and the 17 looks on display certainly felt heavenly. As always, there were plenty of her staples throughout: delicate French lace, structured corseted tops with full tulle skirts, romantic illusion necklines. But there were also several new modern twists from the designer, who tends to stick to tradition. Two white motorcycle jackets—one with embellished pearls, the other with a laser cut floral pattern—caught our eye and will certainly make it to the top of a lot of rebel brides’ wishlists. A satin mermaid number featured unexpected floating bell sleeves, creating a dramatic, voluminous silhouette. City Hall brides will probably lust over an impeccably tailored deep v-neck suit, while those who want to make a show-stopping entrance will surely fall in love with the ample feathered train on a silk cami-like design.
