We Predict What Meghan Markle Will Wear On Her Wedding Day

“What will Meghan Markle wear on her wedding day?” has got to be the biggest looming question facing the fashion world right now and the number one point of (unresolved) interest when it comes to the upcoming royal nuptials. The dress she chooses will undoubtedly help set the tone for the festivities and be the most prominent feature in any subsequent photographs. So, needless to say, the stakes are high!

It is expected to be by a British designer and fairly modest, as was true of the gown that Kate Middleton chose in 2011. And while we know this dress will be at least somewhat demure, we don’t think it will be a carbon copy of Middleton’s Sarah Burton by Alexander McQueen look. In fact, we predict that Markle will wear a dress that is markedly different from both that long-sleeved lace creation, and the high-necked Roland Mouret dress we saw Pippa Middleton wear last year.

We believe Markle will primarily aim to communicate a certain level of modernity and normality with her dress. Nothing about this gown will come off immediately as ostentatious, and within the context of a British royal wedding, we don’t anticipate it being as traditional as you might otherwise expect. (Remember—this isn’t her first rodeo. She’s been married before . . . plus, she’s American!)

And while it is Markle’s big day, we think that like her muted-toned coats of late, the dress won’t scream “look-at-me.” So what is our final prediction? Well, we’ve taken things a step further, and are giving you not one but three. First up is this long white satin Reem Acra dress with an A-line silhouette and a fitted bodice from the designer’s Spring 2019 collection. Using this as the starting point, we handpicked the soon-to-be duchess’s entire matrimonial ensemble, right down to the eau de parfum. Shop all of Ms. Markle’s accessories in the slideshow below and check back tomorrow and Friday for our final two predictions.
