The Best Wedding Videographers: Over The Moon’s 2024 List

While there’s no denying that photography is one of the most essential documentary elements of a wedding day, the value of cinematography is often overlooked. A photograph can freeze a moment in time, but a video preserves the authenticity of your love story through sound and movement. Whether it’s the tremble in your partner’s voice as they recite their vows, the energy your friends and family breathe into the dance floor to all the spontaneous moments in between, immortalizing these memories will create a cherished heirloom for years to come.

In fact, not hiring a wedding videographer is often the biggest regret couples have after saying “I do.” You can splurge on decor or your wedding fashion, but it’s unlikely that your guests will be able to capture your celebration with the same directorial eye or finesse as that of a videographer. Our suggestion? Leave it to the experts who specialize in weddings. We created this shortlist (for the very first time!) to help get the word out about some of the most talented wedding professionals that you should consider for your nuptials. A number of those featured have also filmed weddings highlighted on our Instagram or TikTok, and all of them are amongst the best names in the business—so, remember to leave plenty of time for booking!

Aaron Novak Films

In 2021, Aaron Novak painted the perfect picture of artist and model Ivy Getty’s wedding in San Francisco. The next year, he was the first-round draft pick for Patrick and Brittany Mahomes’s Maui nuptials. Novak also lensed one of our favorite weddings in South Carolina featuring OTM Bride Rainey Lancaster. Stay tuned to see more in 2024 from this California-based destination wedding filmmaker!

Experts in capturing moments that’ll tug on your heartstrings, Current Films is led by Florida-based husband and wife team Zac and Bethany Holmstrom. Together, they’ve captured everything from week-long events in the middle of the Arabian desert to the countryside of the Emerald Isle and the lush coastlines of California. Most recently, they lensed our OTM exclusive editorial on the grounds of the Château de Versailles. In other words, their films have a certain je ne sais quoi that makes them as versatile and artistic as it gets.

Derek Chan Films

With more than a decade of experience, Derek Chan’s films are just like his personality—lively, empathetic, and detail-oriented. Derek and his partner, Cece Wang, are experts at “unposed, caught-in-a-moment candids,” as they share on their website. In other words, you’ll never have to worry if they’re catching your good side—it’s guaranteed. These two take a documentary, fly-on-the-wall approach to curate films that authentically tell the story of your love. While they may call Canada home, these two see more time on an airplane traveling the globe for luxury destination weddings and events.

East West Films

We’re not afraid to admit it, we’re suckers for Caleb Jordan Lee—also known as the mastermind behind East West Films. Not only has the studio been featured many times on Over The Moon—most recently showcasing OTM Bride Alexandra Howard’s nuptials in Charleston—Caleb and his team have also been trusted by famous brides like Priyanka Chopra and Jennifer Gates. While he calls South Carolina home, there’s no denying that his team can bring your love story to life anywhere in the world.

Light Cannon Films

There’s a reason why we always recommend videographers who specialize in weddings, particularly for their ability to handle any and all curve balls that come their way. The perfect example? Light Cannon Films. You might recognize the work of Luke and Christiana Brown from our September 2023 Digital Cover featuring OTM Bride Jessica De La Cruz. Despite a severe hail storm that destroyed the reception, their film transformed this unfortunate circumstance into a beautiful marriage fable. As depicted in our OTM exclusive edit, it’s not about waiting for the storm to pass, but rather dancing in the rain.

Lumos Produzioni

This videography team lensed OTM Bride Sophie Elkus’s wedding week on the shores of Lake Como and should be considered a go-to if you’re tying the knot in Italy. Their passion for filmmaking was realized at the top of a lighthouse on the Mediterranean island of Elba, and since then, they have chased that calling worldwide. From love affairs in Lake Como to fairytales in Portofino, their films infuse la dolce vita around the world.

Marco Caputo Films

A member of the incredible creative team behind Lady Kitty Spencer’s Rome wedding, Caputo Films is also an Italy-based studio capturing luxury weddings across the Amalfi Coast, Lake Como, French Riviera, and beyond. Not to mention, they lensed Sofia Richie and Elliott Grainge’s star-studded nuptials in the South of France (which virtually broke the internet).

Modern Love Productions

Wife and wife team Osiris and Michele created their business from the lingering regret of not having a videographer at their own New Year’s Eve wedding. They describe their typical client as someone who “believes that experiences—and not things—are the best way to enrich, evolve, and entertain,” which is perfectly reflected in their work. While you can find them based in Miami, you can also spot Osiris at the 36:47 time mark as an extra in the Netflix film The Laundromat, starring none other than Meryl Streep. That’s how you can be certain they know how to join the party without interrupting the main characters.

Moon & Back

There’s one thing that all Moon & Back films have in common and that’s an emphasis on human connection. From the tearful fathers walking their daughters down the aisle to the beaming bridesmaids who see their best friend transform into a bride, their videos hone in on the unique relationships of each of their couples. Case in point, OTM Bride Mary Klein’s recent wedding at Topping Rose House.

From her calming presence, ability to capture the perfect lighting, and impeccable storytelling, Frank is a powerhouse in the industry that we’ll continue to recommend.

Sculpting With Time

Meet the team behind Nicola Peltz and Brooklyn Beckham’s lavish Palm Beach wedding–need we say more? This Emmy-award winning film studio comes with impressive accolades, but it’s really their passion for their craft and desire to connect with their clients on a meaningful level that makes them unique. Ready to book Alex and Whitney Douglas? You’re in luck. This Texas-based team travels worldwide.
